My love for yoga began in 2000 when I discovered the asana (posture) portion of yoga.  Over time, I realized that yoga had much more to offer than just physical benefits.  I taught for two years before completing a formal teacher training program in the Pranakriya tradition with Yoganand Michael Carroll in 2008.  My desire to continue to learn from Yoganand led me to complete Advanced Certification (500-hour level) in 2011.  I also completed yoga therapy training in the Pranakriya tradition in 2012, but am not currently a certified yoga therapist.

Later, I became interested in Ayurveda and completed a 300-hour training under Dr. David Frawley in 2016 to be an Ayurvedic Life-Style Consultant. I also completed a 300-hour Meditation Teacher Training in 2019 and am an avid meditator.

When I met my guru, Anand Mehrotra, I was inspired to do a second 300-hour Sattva Yoga training with him.  I completed this training in December 2020.  I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to study with Anandji again the following year and completed his Masters Teacher Training in 2021.  I have continued to study regularly with him since then.

My classes are a blend of meditative and introspective practices from both Pranakriya yoga and Sattva yoga.  Class often begins with a short philosophy talk, which is then woven into the rest of the class. Pranayama is always led at the beginning of class, and often more throughout as well.  Since meeting Anandji, I have also added kriya practices into classes as well.  These classes are therefore very holistic, bringing in various aspects of yoga and addressing all layers of the individual.

When I am not practicing or teaching yoga, I am enjoying every moment of my son’s childhood or working in my other role as a veterinarian.

sattva yoga

Sattva Yoga was developed by Anand Mehrotra in the Himalayas of India.  It is a holistic practice, addressing the whole being through a variety of techniques.  Each session includes at least a few of the following modalities:  kriya, meditation, pranayama, wisdom, sacred ritual, advanced initiation practices, asana, partner work, and mantra.  Through combining these different techniques into a practice, growth happens on all levels of the individual.  Each class is meant to be an opportunity for true spiritual progression.  Some are softer, and some are stronger, but each practice shares the intention to explore the true depth available through yoga, and to arrive at a greater acknowledgement of union with Spirit – the true meaning of Yoga.
